Week 4- Journey to the Wild Kingdom for the theme.
Tuesday pool. Wednesday we went to Zoorasia, which is a small zoo not too far from our base. We weren't even sure if we'd be able to go to the zoo because it was raining. It was certainly not the best zoo I've ever been to but it wasn't as bad as the ones in Germany. The worst part was most of the animals were alone with no animal buddies to be with. The first stop was the elephants and of course they started to pee and poop as soon as we got there, which the kids thought was great/disgusting. The zookeeper was near us and let everyone hold a huge dried elephant dung. I did not touch it but was told it was not as heavy as you would think. It began to really rain while we walked around and the kids were not loving that. Lots of complaining and everyone in not so good moods. They were happy when we finally got to sit down and eat lunch and then we left to go back to the center. At the center we watched The Lion King and finished out our day. I'm not sure how but I didn't take any pictures on my phone or camera.
Thursday was PJ day which was fantastic none of us counselors had real pj's so we just wore yoga pants. We have cream a counselor every week where the children who've been making good choices get to "pie" us in the face. Usually we just have some kind of batter on a plate that they rub in our faces. This week it was vanilla pudding that we added green food coloring and called it jungle goo.
Week 5- Willy Wonka and the Golden Ticket theme.
The theme was fun but it was a little hard to program around candy while also trying to promote healthy eating habits. Tuesday we went to the pool. Wednesday was Kidzania in a mall in Tokyo. This place was amazing! The counselors were told that we could go in but couldn't participate in any of the activities so we didn't really know what was going to happen. We get there and go in and it looks like Vegas inside. It's a whole town where kids can be doctors, flight attendants, fire fighters, cooks, beauticians, barbers, travel agents, and so many more. Each child was given 50 kidzania bucks and they had a reservation cards where they go decide what they want to do and make a reservation for it. The cards reminded me of fast passes at Disneyland. They really didn't need us counselors to be there except to help the kids decide where to go next so we got to take turns just going out in the mall and shopping. I think the favorite place was the Coke bottling shop where they each bottle their own Coke and drink it. Here are some pictures of it:

Friday we went to Fuji Safari. It was a really long bus ride and we didn't really know what was going to happen once we got there. We got to see Mt. Fuji for the first time from here!
Fuji Safari is a large nature area for all sorts of animals. We started off by walking around the nature area were we got to see some of the animals up closer. We even got to take selfies with some giraffe's!
This part was like a zoo, although the walk was on a trail that was very muddy with some stairs that the kids did not appreciate. We had some whining but most of them did very good. Then we had lunch and got to look in the shops. They had a cat, dog, and rabbit house where you could pay to go in and just pet those animals. There was also an area where you could hang out with kangaroo's but we didn't go over there. After lunch we got back on our bus and drove through the animal enclosures. It was really neat to see all the animals so close. I think my favorite part was when we were driving through the lion's, one began to mount the other, and our POC saw it and started shouting "Look up in the trees!!! Look how high they can climb!!! Look in the trees!!!" So funny.Week 5- Willy Wonka and the Golden Ticket theme.

Thursday was wear bright colors or neons. Not very many participated but a few were decked out. During the week we went in after work and decorated the performing arts room into Willy Wonka's factory. We'd been hyping up a big surprise for Thursday and we unveiled the room. The kids did like it and I think it kept their attention while we watched the old Willy Wonka movie.
Friday we went to Yomiruri Land another amusement park. I went with the fast ride group since I assumed a few of them would chicken out or they would be too short to ride some of them and somebody always has to sit out with those. I was right at every ride I had a least one with me. The day was very dreary but the park was completely empty and the children were able to ride most rides without waiting at all. This was the only ride I went on.
